Texas Hold’em is the most popular poker game worldwide. Players compete to make the best 5-card hand using a combination of two private cards and five community cards.

Basic Setup:

  • 2 to 10 players per table
  • Uses a standard 52-card deck
  • Involves blinds (forced bets):
    • Small Blind (left of the dealer)
    • Big Blind (left of the small blind)

Game Play Overview

Hole Cards Dealt

Each player is dealt 2 face-down cards (called hole cards).

Pre-Flop Betting

Starting with the player left of the big blind, players can:

    • Fold (give up)
    • Call (match the big blind)
The Flop
  • Dealer places 3 community cards face-up in the center.
  • Second round of betting begins.
The Turn
  • A 4th community card is dealt face-up.
  • Third betting round.
The River
  • A 5th and final community card is revealed.
  • Final betting round.
The Showdown
  • Remaining players reveal their cards.
  • Best 5-card hand wins using any combination of their 2 hole cards and the 5 community cards.

Goal

Use strategy and poker hand rankings to win chips by either:

  • Having the best hand at showdown
  • Getting all other players to fold before the showdown
